Tall, vertical and extremely statuesque, this plant has large leaves and cream striped, large diameter canes.
Maxima is a bold and beautiful statetment in the landscape and generally attains a height around 50 feet with 4-5 inch diameter canes. The quality of the wood is good and the shoots are edible.
There is confusion or disagreement about the identification of this plant. Many people refer to this as G. robusta, but it does not seem to agree with the description in Plant Resources of South East Asia by Elizabeth Widjawa.
